The winner of B-group wins an invitation for 2011-Grandmasters-A-group.

The 2 first players of C-group
are winning invitation for 2011-Masters-B-group.


Each player rated under 1800 elo can choose to play :

- in a 10 players-group (9 games on 7 days from monday to sunday)

- in a 8 players-group (7 games in 4 days from thursday to sunday : 2 games per day except last round on sunday)

 

Location: Building of the Conseil Général de Meurthe et Moselle, 48 rue du Sergent Blandan, 54000 Nancy (Quarter Nancy Thermal, 15 minutes on foot from the railway station, or take the tram). How to find the location : click here.

Organisors: IM Christophe Philippe and Stéphane Dupré.

Main arbiter : Nadir Bounzou (international arbiter).

Type of tournament: Like in former years, closed round robins tournaments with 10 (or 8) players. 9 games on 7 days (or 7 games on 4 days). Recognised by the FIDE (international chess federation) and FFE (french federation). See at the bottom of this page for the composition of the groups in 2009.

Time control: 1 hour 30 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes to finish the game per player (+30 seconds per move).
And 1 hour 30 minutes per player (+30sec) for the 8 players-4 days-groups.

Prizes for each tournament (except A and B) :
1. : 200€ + trophie (120€ for the 8 players-groups)
2. : 120€ (80€ for the 8 players-groups)
3. : 80€ (40€ for the 8 players-groups)
4. : a chess book or DVD (same for the 8 players-groups)

Important:
On the first day, each player has to leave a deposit of 50 € to be returned after completion of the tournament. In the case of an unjustified departure from the tournament the deposit is not returned.

Meals

Apart from the many restaurants in Nancy, you have the possibility to eat in the restaurant of the Conseil Général (weekdays between 12 and 1.30 pm, full meal very cheap between 5 and 10 €). Closed on the week-end.


Accomodation

Appartments 1 or 2 rooms, with kitchen, LCD television, free internet high speed. Adress : 9 boulevard de la Mothe, 54000 Nancy. Very close from famous "Place Stanislas" and town-center. At 10 minutes from tournament by car, and 20/30 minutes by tramway+walk. Special chess price : 45 euros per night for one small appartment (one big bed or 2 beds), 71 euros per night for a 2 rooms-appartment (one big bed + 2 small, or 2 big beds). Possible breakfast : 6 euros. Possible parking : 5 euros (but free in the street). P

Special offer for chess players : 10% reduction, so : 59 euros single or double room one bed / 68 euros double room (2 beds) : so one night at only 34 euros per person in a nice "3-stars" hotel if you are two persons. Breakfast : 7€50. With free internet WIFI.


All other partner hotels are situated in the same part of town, in a radius of 100m, close to the railway station and to the centre of Nancy. It will take you 15 minutes to reach the tournament location on foot, or 10 by tram. When reserving, request the tournament price "Festival d'échecs".
